“You haven’t changed since high school” – 6 simple words that could crush any adult at their 10 year high school reunion.
One of the greatest compliments I have ever received was from a girl I used to go to high school with. We bumped in to each other and stopped for a quick chat. I must have surprised her, as I was not the person she remembered me to be. I had grown a lot emotionally, intellectually and sexually and become more accepting, rational and adaptive. With a confused look on her face, she asked “Who are you?” I was so glad I wasn’t the person she remembered, and that I didn’t hear her say those 6 simple words.
This blog is based on my personal growth and transformation from feeling like life was passing me by, alone in a crowd and stuck in a mundane routine, always seeking approval from others instead of caring about my opinion of myself and judging things and people based on uneducated, narrow minded biases; to the person that had the conversation with the girl from high school. A confident, less anxious person who lives in the moment. Someone open minded who looks at the evidence before making a conclusion, as well as an overall happier and healthier person.
My transformation wasn’t easy, and currently requires some attention, but the emotional and physical improvement and self-actualisation has definitely been worth the effort. It took me a long time to realise that I had to adapt to the world, change my views and be open to things I previously wasn’t. Prior to this epiphany, my emotional state was so bad it affected my physical health. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue. This was the defining moment in which I knew I had to make changes. I thank chronic fatigue for kick starting my transformation, however I wish I didn’t have to hit rock bottom.
I have done extensive research on many topics, both scientifically and spiritually, even though I’m a little sceptical about the latter because of the lack of data. You may not agree with everything I say, or be willing to participate in some of the activities that helped me and that’s up to you. I am just here to share my story, experiences and provide insight as to why things are the way they are and hopefully facilitate peoples transformation into their best self.
